Testing, Evaluation, and Consultation Services

Psychoeducational Evaluation
Comprehensive testing determines the client’s unique cognitive and learning profile and is used to create a support plan for the child at school.
Psychoeducational testing and evaluation explores cognitive and academic strengths and weaknesses. It considers the presence of specific learning disabilities, dyslexia, dysgraphia, or dyscalculia. We also examine other areas such as social, emotional, and behavioral functioning, attention and executive functioning skills, language skills, adaptive functioning, and motor skills based on each client’s needs.
Additionally, psychoeducational assessments determine appropriate accommodations for standardized tests, such as the SAT.

Psychological Assessment
Psychological evaluations examine social, emotional, and behavioral functioning to better understand the individual’s strengths and needs. Other areas of assessment, e.g., attention and executive functioning, adaptive skills, or language skills, are included when needed to support the client.

Autism Testing
Testing and evaluation for autism spectrum disorders focuses on examining social skills and behavior.
Dr. Nicole uses a neuroaffirming approach and considers the strengths of the whole person. Evaluation measures, such as the ADOS-2, are used to meet requirements from insurance companies.
Learning about cognitive and language skills, adaptive functioning, sensory processing, motor skills, and emotional regulation helps to create an individualized plan for support.

ADHD Testing
ADHD testing and evaluation focuses on examining attention and executive functioning skills. We also examine other areas such as cognitive functioning, motor skills, language skills, and social, emotional, and behavioral functioning when needed based on each client’s needs.

Developmental Assessment
Developmental assessments examine early childhood development overall. Additionally, developmental testing tells us about the child's cognitive and adaptive skills, language functioning, motor skills, behavior, and social skills.

Gifted/Admissions
Gifted testing examines intellectual ability and each individual's cognitive strengths and weaknesses.
Admission to gifted and talented programs and private schools often uses intelligence tests as well.

Consultation
Consultations with parents help families consider options for treatment and services, access supports at school, and navigate special education services.
Dr. Nicole has an understanding of school-based systems and provides school-based recommendations. She consults with families regarding special education and Section 504 services, including ARD meetings, FIEs and IEPs, educational disability classifications, and educational placement and programming.
