Psychoeducational Evaluation

Comprehensive testing is completed to determine the client’s unique cognitive and learning profile and create a support plan for the child at school. Testing explores cognitive and academic strengths and weaknesses and considers the presence of specific learning disabilities, dyslexia, dysgraphia, or dyscalculia. Other areas of assessment such as social, emotional, and behavioral functioning, attention and executive functioning skills, language skills, adaptive functioning, and motor skills are included based on each client’s needs. Psychoeducational assessments are also used to determine appropriate accommodations for standardized tests, such as the SAT.

Psychological Assessment

Psychological evaluations examine social, emotional, and behavioral functioning; may include other areas of assessment, such as attention and executive functioning, adaptive skills, or language skills, to better understand the individual’s functioning.

Autism Assessment

Evaluations considering autism spectrum disorders focus on examining social skills and behavior. Dr. Nicole uses a neuroaffirming approach and considers the strengths of the whole person. Evaluation measures such as the ADOS-2 are used to meet requirements from insurance companies. Other areas of evaluation such as cognitive and language skills, adaptive functioning, sensory processing, motor skills, and emotional regulation are included based on each client’s needs.

ADHD Assessment

Evaluations considering ADHD focus on examining attention and executive functioning skills. Other areas of evaluation such as cognitive functioning, motor skills, language skills, and social, emotional, and behavioral functioning are included based on each client’s needs.

Developmental Assessment

Developmental assessment examines early childhood development and may include areas such as cognitive and adaptive skills, language functioning, motor skills, behavior, and social skills.

Gifted/Admissions

Gifted testing examines cognitive ability and is often used to admittance to gifted and talented programs or admission for private schools.

Consultation

Dr. Nicole conducts consultations with parents to help families consider options for treatment and services, access supports at school, and navigate special education services. Dr. Nicole has an understanding of school-based systems and provides school-based recommendations. She consults with families regarding special education and Section 504 services, including ARD meetings, FIEs and IEPs, educational disability classifications, and educational placement and programming.
